if there is no mixing then how will such politicians win elections. Politicians win elections mainly because of the divide they create among people...For them religion and politics are like DNA structure;politics survive only under the banner of religion.

It is ironical that Islamic countries choose Islam as their priority but India should not choose their religion, Hinduism, as the priority which had been tarnished so much by the Mughal invaders. We never invaded any Muslim country nor did we convert anybody. I would say most of the Pakistanis would have Hindu genes since most of them would be converts or born to Mughal workers and Hindus.

I must congratulate Dr. Hoodbhoy for his precise counterargument that if the Western world has so much unhappiness, then why do the Pakistanis bend over backward to leave Pakistan and try to emigrate to the West. They are hypocrites who decry the West and, at the same time, emigrate and live there. I also liked his puns about making "profit"/Munafa, instead of calling it an interest masqueraded as an Islamic banking of non-interest, which is munafiqat (Arabic/Urdu for hypocrisy). Later, he also said that Pakistanis are so eager to go to Sweden, Norway, etc., yet those countries are not based on religion. However, they are honest. But honesty in Urdu is "Imandar" (Holder of faith), but they cannot be called Imandar, being non-Muslim. So they are beiman (without faith) but honest. Ha, Ha!

I am 85 years old and a Muslim ALHAMDOLILLAH, and took part in the Pakistan movement. I still remember, we all Muslims kids used slogan as "MARAIN GE MAR JAEIN GE, PER PAKISTAN BANAEIN GE", "JAN JAEY YA IMAN , LAD KE LAIN GE PAKISTAN"! But this was in Cawnpour(KANPUR) India in 1946/47, when my dad was posted there by the British Government. As my dad we moved to Dacca former East Pakistan I also remember as heard from our elders there that there were many peaceful talks between Quaide Azam Jinnah Sahab, Mr Nehru and Shere-Bangla Fazlul Haq Sahab. The Quaid had talks in 1948 in Dacca as there was no Pakistan army except one Brigade or Division, for the defense of East Pakistan and also to look after the interest of Indian Muslims, be protected from the West Pakistan? The Quaid had also said ask Mr Nehru to get a corridor-safe passage between the West & East Pakistan? So far Urdu is concerned as State Language of Pakistan, he never meant any radical or immediate change rather he meant to replace the English Language, which is still a white Masters Language? This was heard when the Quaid decided to be Governor General, Shere-Bangla desired to be Governor General of East Pakistan, but the Quaid convinced him that, India would attack and takeover. There was no such Media as it is now!
